Keyword Elite 2.0 Review (From a Market Samurai Fan)
I have been able to put Keyword Elite 2 to the test and I'm talking about my results in this post…
For those of you who don't know, Keyword Elite 1.0 is one of the most known keyword tool in the Internet Marketing community. It was released several years ago and IMHO it is now quite obsolete. With all the keyword tools available today, mainly the free Google’s Keyword Tool or the excellent paid version of Market Samurai, they really had to release a new version if they wanted to stay on track.
Market Samurai is the software I'm using for my own keyword research. Being totally satisfied with it I was wondering how Keyword Elite 2 would perfom compared to it and why in the world would I change from MS to KE2. I must confess that when I started to test Keyword Elite 2 I was pretty sure that I would keep working with Market Samurai…
What do I think now after one week of using Keyword Elite 2 ?
(It's probably not what you think!)
Follow the guide…
Keyword Elite 2: What's Inside
Some interesting modules have been added to Keyword Elite 2 making it more up to date concerning some of the latest Internet Marketing trends.
The Keyword Surge Module:
This module is used to create keywords lists. The way it works is you first enter a seed keyword and Keyword Elite will give you a list of related keywords. This is the most basic function that you can find in any keyword tool. However, in Keyword Elite 2 you have the option to use 5 different ways to create those keywords lists:
- By using the Keyword Elite Engine
- By using Ask.com
- By using the Google Suggestion Tool
- By using Meta Tags
- By using the free version of Word Tracker
Additionally to giving a seed keyword you also have the option to control how many keywords you want as a result, ranging from 100 to 10,000 (from one single seed keyword).

Here is how the results page looks like (Click on the image to zoom):
As in any keyword tool you can sort the keywords alphabetically or by search volume or by any other column. You can easily filter the keywords if for example you only want the keywords being searched more than 6,000 times per month or if you only want keyword phrases with at least 3 words in them. You just have to click on one of the filter icons as shown in the screenshot below:

For my test, with the "aloe vera" seed keyword, the number of generated keywords is much higher than what I got with Market Samurai. I paused after about 15 seconds and got 815 related keywords while Market Samurai gave me "only" 468.
But wait, this doesn't mean that it's better yet. A huge number of keywords doesn't mean anything if the keywords are low quality or not related enough to the seed keyword.
After a quick look at the results I was surprised to see keywords with high search volumes that Market Samurai didn't return. For example Keyword Elite returned me this intriguing keyword: "succulent plants". At first I didn't know if that was targeted or not, so I made a quick search on google for succulent plants and found that the aloe vera is actually categorized in the succulent plants family. This keyword is searched for more than 6,000 times per month so this is a key keyword to know if you're creating content pages related to the Aloe Vera plant.
You might think that it is a little bit far from the "aloe vera" term itself (SEO wise it's not), so if you think this is the case then consider this second keyword that Keyword Elite gave me while Market Samurai didn't: "aloe vesta". After a quick search on google, it seems that aloe vesta is a product series containing aloe vera. This keyword phrase is searched for more than 12,000 times per month and it's trending upwards!
Some of the keywords that Keyword Elite 2 returned are quite untargeted or completely unrelated but the majority of the keywords I got are of excellent quality and were not returned by Market Samurai.
I was very surprised and impressed.
This module has also some other cool features. For example you can automatically surround the keywords with quotes or brackets if you want to use them in an adwords campaign. Or you can append or prepend any text you want to the keywords, so you could add for example "in chicago" at the end of all your keywords. You can also setup a list of characters to remove from the keywords and define a list of positive and negative keywords. So if you don't want to get any data about aloe vesta, just put the word "vesta" into the negative keywords list or if you only want the keywords containing "vesta" put this word into the positive keywords lists:

Like in Keyword Elite 1 you can then select the keywords you want and send them to one of the other modules to extract more specific information:

You can also automatically create adsense content pages for all the selected keywords. Keyword Elite 2 like the 1st version will search for related articles on the internet and create the HTML pages for you. You can use your own template or any of the existing ones.
The Market Research Sleuth Module:
The name of this module is not very explicit. It's not market research as I call it myself. Instead this module allows you to get information about the PPC advertisers bidding on your selected keywords. You will be able to see for the 3 main PPC engines (Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing and MSN AdCenter):
- How many advertisers are bidding on your selected keywords as well as their ads and website URLs.
- The average cost per click
- The estimated number of clicks on the #1 ad.
- The estimated number of clicks on the #1 organic listing.
- As well as some other information like the number of results of competing websites etc…
The 1st screen you will see when you launch this module is this one:
After entering some keywords or sending them from another module to the Market Research Sleuth module here is what you will get (Click on the image to Zoom):
I have only extracted the information from Google Adwords and not from Yahoo Search Marketing or MSN AdCenter.
Thanks to this module you can find out if other advertisers are spending money for your selected keywords and if the competition is not too fierce.
The Adwords Time Machine Module:
This module is what I would call a light version of Google Cash Detective (Link to my Google Cash Detective review – opens in a new window).
Don't be fooled though, I said "light version" but actually this module is very powerful and will allow you to uncover profitable Adwords campaigns in a flash.
WARNING: I have already written about this in my Google Cash Detective review but I need to repeat it to be sure that you don't miss this crucial information:
Finding a campaign profitable for another advertiser DOES NOT GUARANTEE in any way that by swiping his campaign *YOU* will make money.
There are several reasons to this and the main one being that your adwords account is assigned a quality score. This account quality score has an influence on your overall bid prices. The higher your quality score the lower you will pay for top positions. These advertisers that you are spying probably have high quality score accounts, and if your account is new or if you have never created optimized adwords campaigns there are high chances (close to 100%) that your account quality score is low.
So you will have to pay higher and maybe you won't be able to turn a profit.
That being said, if you do things well (I can show you how for free, more on that later) you can uncover some terrific opportunities by using this module.
Let me show you how it works… First you enter the keyword you want to spy:
On the next screen you get this kind of results (Click on the image to Zoom):
That is quite impressive for a software of this price tag. You see at a glance which advertisers are bidding on the term you have specified for the last 6 months. When you click on the little glass icon on the left of an advertiser's URL you get te list of the other keywords he is bidding on!
You can also see the exact Ad text he is using for each of these keywords. Powerful!
Now while I was playing with this module I found that Keyword Elite 2 was not able, pretty often, to extract the keywords list an advertiser was bidding on.
Here is the message I often get: "Cannot find more keywords"
I don't really know if this is because I'm using a Beta version of Keyword Elite 2 or if it is because the keywords database on their server is small. If this is a database issue, this will get better with time as the database grows. If this is because I'm using a Beta version then you will get better results than me as soon as you start using the software.
The Search Engine Dominator Module:
This module is very useful for article marketers or content writers. It allows you to find the keywords that are searched a lot and that are not competitive, keywords for which you can easily rank for on Google, Yahoo and Bing (MSN).
Here is how it works… First enter a keyword or a list of keywords, you can also send a list of keywords from the Keyword Surge module to this one. Then select which search engines you want to check and click on start:
The results screen contains exhaustive information (Click to Zoom):
If you're new to SEO this information might look difficult to read. Don't be scared it's actually very easy to understand and everything is explained in the manual. As an SEO expert myself I can answer your questions in my own internet marketing forum.
The information you get from this module is pure gold for bum marketers because you can very quickly and easily find the keyword phrases with high search volume and low competition.
The Adwords Competition Sniper Module:
I see this module as an extension of the Adwords Time Machine except that you don't get the data instantly. With this module you can specify which websites you want to spy, for which keywords and for how much time. It is similar to softwares like AdSpy PRO or Undercover Profits.
Let me give you an example with some screenshots.
First you give a name to your project, I have called mine "Aloe Vesta" in regards to the keyword I found within the Keyword Surge module.
Then you edit your project to add the websites and keywords you want to spy. I have added the following keywords and the following websites (I have found the websites by searching for "aloe vesta" on google, I just copied the domain names of some of the advertisers):
After pressing OK Keyword Elite 2 shows you this screen where you can add new keywords or remove some of them:
Just click on the save button and you're ready to spy on those websites! Here is the main screen you will see after setting up your project (Click To Zoom):
If you decide to use the scheduler you can have Keyword Elite check those keywords/websites combinations daily, weekly or monthly. I recommend to use the scheduler and the daily setting.
Here is how it looks like after some data has been collected (Click to Zoom):
On the right column you can see for how much days those different advertisers have been bidding on the specified keywords (from the day you started the project). The theory behind this is that if someone is paying for a specific keyword long enough he's probably making money with this keyword. It's not always the case though.
Many advertisers don't track to the keyword level so their overall campaign is profitable but they don't know which keywords are bringing them the sales (and which ones are just waste of money).
That being said it can give you a good indication. If for example you find that these advertisers stop paying for this term after a few days it would be wise to NOT bid on it… Or maybe their landing pages are crap
The Google Site Targeter Module:
IMHO for PPC advertisers, this module is simply the most powerful module of Keyword Elite 2. Even more than the Adwords Time Machine module.
The Site Targeter allows you to find high traffic websites displaying adsense ads in any niche of your choice.
Why would you want to find adsense websites you might ask?
Answer – Because you can advertise on these specific websites from your Adwords account.
Here is in a few words the money making strategy you will use with this module:
Let's say that you want to create an adwords campaign to sell some "aloe vesta" related products (I'm glad I found this keyword above
)
What most PPC advertisers would do would be creating a normal campaign and bid on some aloe vesta related keywords so when someone searches for aloe vesta on google their ad would get displayed on the search engine listing page like that:
This is the standard way of using Adwords.
But some keywords cost a fortune per click if you want to bid on them! For this kind of keywords there is a much cheaper way and it's by advertising on the content network.
Let's have a look at the process by using the Advanced Google Site Targeter module of Keyword Elite 2.
First you have to enter the list of keywords you want to target and some options.
I'm just going to enter aloe vesta for now and keep the default settings:
Now Keyword Elite is going to search wich websites are ranked for this keyword and check on all of these websites if they are displaying adsense ads.
Before showing you the screen results, let me explain you how the searchers are going to find you.
- They are going to google and type a keyword they want information for, in our example: aloe vesta
- Google returns a list of relevant websites and displays some PPC ads on the listing page. Yours is NOT here.
- The searcher doesn't click on any ad, instead he clicks on one of the free listings that seems relevant to what he is looking for… (just so you know, on average the 10 websites on the organic (free) listing are getting 75% of the traffic while all the PPC ads only get 25% of the traffic.
- The page that is loaded is 100% relevant to what he was searching for so he reads the content of the page and on this page there are some adsense ads… And among these ads, there is yours (there's a way to display ONLY your ad on the page, more on that later…)
- The searcher clicks on your ad and is redirected to your website. If he follows your recommendation you make a sale or you get a new subscriber to your mailing list.
That is the strategy in a nutshell.
Don't overlook it because it is extremely powerful and you will get much more PPC traffic with the content network than with the search network and you will pay much less for that traffic.
So here are the results returned by Keyword Elite 2 for my aloe vesta keyword (Click to Zoom):
If you click on the URLs the pages open in your browser. Here is how those 2 pages look like (I have circled in red the adsense blocks).
If I was creating this campaign myself I would target the first website (drugs.com) and NOT the second one (NexTag.com). If you look where the adsense ads are placed on those 2 websites you will understand why:
| Drugs.com | NexTag.com |
![]() |
![]() |
I have a special technique to get very high CTR when you target the content network. I can explain it to you for free if you purchase Keyword Elite 2 through my link. Just continue reading this review, I will give you more details about my bonus package in a few minutes and how you can get what I would call "Keyword Elite 2 Supreme Edition" available from this website only.
Now to close this strategy, you would do that for several related keywords. You would find all the high traffic websites displaying adsense ads for all those related keywords and you would avdertise on those websites.
The JV Diamond Miner Module:
Another extremely powerful module that doesn't have any equivalent on the market.
This module has been designed with product vendors in mind but I have found a sneaky way to use it with affiliate marketing, so even if you don't have any product of your own you will still be able to make money with this module… My technique is actually very sneaky but perfectly legal and 100% ethical
Before talking about my technique let me explain you what this module is used for.
You have probably (or maybe not) heard of "integration marketing". This technique has been discussed on several forums over the past year or so and has been made popular by Mike Filsaime.
The example Mike Filsaime gave to explain what it is all about was about Pepsi and Coca Cola. Those 2 companies DO NOT have their own stores but they make a lot of money and are 2 of the most known companies in the world. How do they do that? By integrating their products into other business sales funels. You get their products in hotels, bars, restaurants, vending machines, at the cinema etc…
We can transpose this on the internet. The idea is to integrate your products into the "thank you" pages of other related websites. A thank you page is the page a visitor sees after having subscribed to a newsletter.
You have probably already seen this kind of page:

Ok, that's a good thing that this marketer builds a list but he is wasting the space 100% of his subscribers will see. This marketer could make some serious profits just by adding an offer to this page. Actually a lot of marketers are not aware of this fact, but this real estate is much more valuable than any other space on their website. It is valuable because the people who see it are highly targeted visitors, no doubt about this because they just signed up!
The JV Diamond Miner module helps you to find those mailing lists where you can potentially integrate your product offer.
The Keyword Elite manual explains how to have those website owners interested in integrating your offer into their thank you pages.
And ME I'm going to explain you how to profit from this strategy even if you don't have a product of your own. It has nothing to do with PLR products if you were thinking so… It's all about affiliate marketing.
This strategy is a part of my Keyword Elite Bonus package.
The CPA Magnet Module:
Once you have found a niche and the keywords to use to drive traffic to your websites, you need the best offers to monetize that traffic.
This is what the CPA Magnet module is used for.
Just by entering a keyword you can get the list of the highest paying related offers.
Keyword Elite searches on about 40 CPA and Affiliate Networks and has access to about 13,000 offers. You can sort them by lead payout or by commission percentage.
You get to see everything from within Keyword Elite so you don't have to register on 40 networks to find the best offer. Here is how it looks like.
First you enter your keyword:

Then you just have to select the offer that you want to promote (Click on the image to Zoom):
By clicking on the URLs you access the registration pages of the different networks.
If you click on one of the descriptions a window pops up showing you the details of the offer.
This is a great time saver and it really allows you to find the highest paying offers in your industry. Some offers you would have maybe never heard about.
Conclusion
Ok… I must admit that after using Keyword Elite 2 during one week I have been pleasantly surprised by its ease of use and the quality of the data it gives access to.
For pure keyword research I find it far more powerful than Market Samurai (which was my favorite Keyword Research software until now). Even "Google Fight" thinks Keyword Elite 2 is better than Market Samurai

Somewhat related articles:
The Internet is awe-inspiring. There is a possibility that everything human beings have ever known, will eventually find its way onto the Internet. Unfortunately, a great deal of wildly inaccurate information and even deliberately misleading information; has also found its way onto the Internet. Reading articles from various sites is useful, but eventually you will want to ask one or two questions to someone on the Internet who will actually answer them.
It is now possible to ask and get an answer without having to pay for it by simply signing up for an Internet marketing forum. For the beginners, an Internet forum is a website or portion of website where the site's members can post information and participate in discussions on anything that is of interest to them.
All members can read the posts on such forums, which means they are public in nature. Forums are broadly structured by topics.. Within each broad category, the individual members create the topics. When a member makes a statement or asks a question it starts a 'thread'. Someone else responds to the question, and someone responds to the response, etc… This can go on for pages together.
You may come across valuable information this way. It is quite possible that you get complete nonsense and come to the realization that just about every wing nut in the world has access to the net and loves forums. At times, some of these can be exceedingly aggressive.
Thankfully, most forums are moderated. Referees hired by sites prevent members from abusing each other and even keep them on topic depending on the site's policy. As a matter of fact, an Internet marketing forum is a dedicated forum for marketing of goods and services over the net.
You can interact with existing and aspirant net vendors dealing on the Internet with the help of such forums. Going on a forum with the intent of marketing your goods and services and finding someone who needs what you have available for sale just by chance is not a farfetched possibility.
Another benefit from net forums is that they tend to be populated by regular members. This implies that over a period of time, members who are regular become familiar with each other and a sense of community develops. For an individual trying to sell a product or service over the Internet this can be an indispensable moral support. Internet selling cannot ensure that you do not feel isolated, despite the fact that you pitch to potential customers and get in touch with existing customers to complete their orders for goods or services. The fact that it provides a comfortable environment for work related discussions between individuals who are professionally alike is also appreciated.
An Internet marketing forum will not only allow you to share your experience, it will also help you solve your queries and learn about Internet marketing. Not only can you do all that but you might just find that you enjoy being part of a net community of like minded people.
A technique that helps in development of your business through increasing the number of audience and converting them into potential customers is search engine optimization marketing. There are number of companies who are providing the search engine optimization services at a very economical cost and they will ensure that the content of your website is attractive thus making it more visible to search engines. Content writing, link building, image and link optimization etc are some of the services which the best providers can provide you.
The effectiveness of the site can really be improved with the important process of link building. Search engines checks out that how many links you posses of the other sites and it also checks out the count of the people visiting your website with these links. Place links on the site that showcases your products or services. Suppose an event is conducted on sports, you can find the links of such website on other websites which are related to sports. When people use these links to view your site, search engines will pick up on it and your status on the search results page will increase. If your website is explaining the offers which you provide with the help of images and if there is lack of content in your site then there are content writing services available.
The content writers will write articles based on target keywords for your website that most people will be searching for while they search for your products. Once the articles are written they can be properly placed on your website. Useful advice like whether the article would effectively match with the SEO marketing or not can be given by professional writers. Your website content should include what you are offering to your customers rather than just filling up your pages.
The non-content text of the website will be changed during the process of website optimization so that it can be picked up by the search engines. This will be quite impressing for those you take interest in your website. With neater URL you can easily eliminate unnecessary letters and symbols which can give you much better results. The text that you have and also the hidden text are very significant as there are many search engines that do not register images or flash animations. Basically, visitors may click the link included in the clip for more information or pictures and if the pictures are named a "picture123" then it may not get tracked by search engines. Be sure to use labels like "Sporting Goods We Offer" for the picture of some of the products at your store. Because there are services that will do these things for you, you don't have to stress yourself with creating a website that's ideal for you and the search engines. Modifying existing website can allow you and your customers to meet specific needs. To succeed your business, search engine optimization is an excellent path.
Bum marketing is one of the methods of article marketing, which it is not the ideal system but then also you can earn better amount of commission for selling products from affiliate product sales. Bum marketing is considered to be an advanced stage of article marketing which is brought in to use due to its capability of making money online and this is done by writing the articles based on keywords and submitting it to different websites through which you can improvise the ranking of your website, as by doing this your website will get enough exposure. It is important to understand the complete procedure of bum marketing if you want to make good money by earning commission, selling products, or by opt-in newsletter sign ups.
As said before it is the advanced stage of article marketing which allows you to generate more income along with generating traffic and this is the reason that makes it different from traditional article marketing. Travis Sago is the name involved behind bringing in the style of bum marketing and making it more popular. It is the simple form of marketing which is very easy to understand and is named as bum marketing because even a bum on the roadside can make money online, if given computer and internet access facility.
It is not always possible to build more money without investing any money but there are some exceptions like bum marketing which can allow you to make money without spending much.
Here is a brief description given which can make you understand the difference between traditional and bum marketing:
1. Look for the not so popular niche where you have to face less competition.
2. Your next step will be finding an affiliate program whose product can compliment niche and can assist you in earning higher commission.
3. You are going to write articles based on keywords, so it is essential to do investigation on keywords and select the one that is low in competition.
4. Once you select the appropriate keyword, your next step will be to writing an attractive article based on the keyword and you can even add phrases related to keywords.
5. After completing the writing work you have to do article submission to various popular directories which can enable the display of your article via most important search engines like Google, yahoo, etc whose work is to select the article and make it visible for the visitors. 6. By investing less amount of time to understand this procedure, you can earn good money through affiliate commission, selling products, newsletter signatures, etc.
Though bum marketing is similar to article marketing, it concentrates more on affiliate products to make money online and this is the major difference between traditional article marketing and bum marketing. Bum marketing is considered to be more effective and unique though it is based on article marketing as it provides excellent results; it is ultimate method which concentrates more on earning money rather than generating traffic. Hi Vita,
If I already have the previous version (i.e.Keyword Elite), do I still need to pay for the upgrade to Keyword Elite 2.
Thank you Vita.

Hey Rudy,
I just got a reply from Brad.
Since Keyword Elite 2 is a new software and not just un upgrade from Keyword Elite 1 it will not be free for the current users.
But he told me that he will be mailing out a special coupon code for current customers to get a very hefty discount. Don't know how much though…

I don't care if it's 'new', that's obvious, fact is virtually any decent software company gives a deep discount for existing customers. As an KE1 user that paid full pric, I'm not impressed – nor do I have any coupon.
The software looks good but so did KE1 and I've had problems with that. I'll hold fire and see if I get a coupon. If not, I'll either put up with KE1 or find a different company.
Note to Brad – how NOT to build loyalty!

I don't understand how Brad can say that Keyword Elite v2 is not an upgrade from Keyword Elite v1. Regardless of how much of a re-build it may have gone through or how many new features were added, v1 to v2 is an upgrade. It really puts a bad taste in my mouth to be charged again for the product, when it was my understanding that upgrades were to be free. Unless someone can explain why v1 to v2 (of the same product) is not an upgrade, I really feel this would be a bad decision to not provide this FREE to previous purchasers of KE v1 (of which I am). Hopefully he can reconsider this decision and quickly.
Thanks,
Gary Gordon

Affordable Alan: Brad already sent an email to KE1 customers. As a customer myself I received it one day before KE2's launch day.
If you have not received it, you should contact their support desk.
Gary and Alan, I understand your positions but as a software developer myself I can say that this is really a new software and not just an upgrade. Keyword Elite has become a brand name and that would not be smart from them to NOT use this name for their new keyword research software.
Kind regards,

Really refreshing to read a review that actually gives me all the information I am after before asking me to buy through your affiliate link. If I do upgrade (and the CPA Magnet module looks like it's worth the upgrade price alone) I'll buy through your link. Thanks a lot for the info.

I've been using market samurai and I will say it is good.I also heard a lot of good things about KE2 but a little bit pricy.

Hey Tiga,
Yes Market Samurai is very good and is the software I was using before I purchased Keyword Elite 2. But from my tests and integration of KE2 into my websites creation pipeline I can tell you that KE2 is more powerful than Market Samurai.
Maybe you should take a look at my new video series where I show how to use KE2 to build niche/authority websites. My members love this new series and right now I'm giving access free of charge:

That is really a sad decision on Brad's part when he promised all users free upgrades. Lemme see, I paid him $197, then 9 months later he wants to hit me for another $197?
Brad would do well to take care of his previous loyal customers rather than hunting for new ones to soak.

Hi! Does Elite filter by phrase match, i.e., broad, phrase, exact?
By Vita Vee on Oct 14, 2010 | Reply
Hi Kacey
You have this information in the "Market Research" module but it's not really a filter.
It's 3 tabs that allow you to see the search volume for those 3 match types.

Hello Vita,
I was looking at your bonuses for keyword elite but the review is a year old or so. I'd like to buy KE through you but it's only $97 now not $197. Are you aware of this?
Thanks,
H

HI, i recently purchase Keyword elite 2.0. This software seems great. As you said, it's simple to use and easy to anderstand. But right now, i have a big problem. I don't know who to make profit with this software even if i have a supplier. I mabee need more explanation. I anderstand the fact that Keyword elite Gives you plenty of websites but what is the next step?? I'm already affiliate with a supplier (and unfortunatly he didn't want me to tell his corporation name at all) So i can't plug it directly but i can surely subscribe customers myself to this supplier website, then, those customers will next be able to purchase what they want on my suppliers website. Anyone have an idea for me what to do???
