Most comments + questions here are from 2009. Anyone still using this in 2010? I have the same question as Ken above, are there any monetizing other than ebay sites? Susan's comments seem the most knowledgeable and comprehensive.

Thanks a lot Susan for your very informative comment! It seems that this method made you lose quite a lot of money.

I don't know how your sites are, but what I would do if I were you would be to find other ways to monetize them.

There are surely other affiliate programs or dropshippers related to your sites' content.

I don't know exactly what your situation is but if you want to see how I build websites that get great traffic from Google, I have recorded some video tutorials, accessible on this page:

I can tell you that it does not work as outlined, at least not any more.

For one, Ebay has changed the affiliate rules since the program has been introduced. That fact combined with shrinking Ebay auction and visitor numbers, the flat economy, and more sites competing for the same Ebay customers, has deeply affected those projected income numbers. We set up 40 mini-sites ourselves in October and November, following the formula exactly as outlined. We did the videos, blogs, etc. and worked on it for almost 2 months straight full time. After that we spent additional time marketing the sites. Well at the end of our 4 month time and financial investment, our income amounts to all of $2.50 per site per month. That's around $100.00 a month for all 40 sites. A far cry from the 3-5 dollars per day the program boasts. And our numbers have not gone up since the middle of November (even during Christmas) in spite of intense marketing. 15 of those sites have been up since the middle of October. At this rate, we figure it will take almost 2 years just to get our money back (our total investment was about $2400 including about 80 hours of outsourcing using the recommended out-sourcing site). Also we have to pay for the monthly hosting and perform ongoing site maintenance which we do ourselves. While this income may go up over time, it hardly justifies the money and time spent. And there are other variables which are out of our control such as when Ebay systems went down for 5 days in December during a high volume weekend. Keep in mind that that the mini-sites are solely dependent on Ebay sales so if something goes wrong, your numbers business is adversely affected. Though it's hard to project how this will all pan out, I have to say that at this stage I am disappointed and will not be adding any more sites to our list. There is a saying "if it looks too good to be true, it usually is". Right now, I feel that this may very well apply to the Mini-Site Formula.

Hi Vita

Just came across your site and found the mini site reviews interesting.

You can either have 1 website and put all your effort into that or spread your risk with multiple sites.

Once you understand how to create your own website and drive traffic you are halfway there.

I would be interested to see comments from anyone making money using this programme as its been around for a while now.

Regards

Hi DA,

What I do for my own websites is this:

I pay for one main domain associated to one main hosting account.

Then each time I want to create a new website, I just purchase a domain name and update the DNS of that domain name so it uses space from my main hosting account.

The content of the new domain is the content of a subfolder located on my main hosting account. This is a very inexpensive way to create a ton of websites.

Just send a message to your hosting company to ask them how to do that.

Read Joel's Mini Site Sales page. Seems to be an interesting concept. The question i have that no one asked here is if you have many mini sites working for you, what do you do about registering domains and hosting? Are you talking about a few mini-sites on one domain and one hosting plan and on and on. Seems it could get expensive with just the hosting/ domain registration part. Could someone clear this up?

hello...so does that mean you have to buy thousands of different domain names. That could cost a fortune. Just checking

Thanks a lot Shont'e for this insider report of the mini site formula.

This confirms my first impressions. I have not seen any bad comment about this program yet.

If I was not too busy with other activities I would give it a try.
